That's where I was going with my original comment, the severity is going to go up on the wreckless driving. Best to fight that one.

I would think 71 in a 55 is pretty clear

Bad bad advice, he should hire a lawyer and try to get it switched to a non moving violation

I totally agree with you guys about "she should not have been speeding"
I already had a talk with her. She understands she's in the wrong. But I can't undo any of this.
So I was thinking that it would be best to try to have that ticket reduced or fought somehow just so insurance doesn't sky rocket.

    JJ 501, scottlav46 and Gunner75 Thank this.

Ca courts are pretty good about reducing it to a seatbelt, or logbook ticket, the fine wont be reduced. She can request a trial by declaration and exlain and ask for a reduction, or you spend a grand and hire an attourney.

Got a friend who does oversize with ATS, he got a 15 over in Cali last September. His company told him he either fights it and gets it reduced or he's fired. It's costing him over $3000 to fight it, but he's gonna be able to keep his job

I have a HUGE family in Ohio, and was born in the Cuyahoga County of, so while I do appreciate mom's devil may care 'tude, I'm certain the CHP did not.

Yea 71 in a 55. You could go down for wreckless driving.

We had a guy get a wreckless in NM awhile back, I gotta find out how that turned out and what he paid for an attorney.

Just the grief of going all the way to California on a given date to appear is awful. And if you fight it with an attorney your gonna make several trips, you'll be in it for the cost of a new set of tires, including steers by the time it's done, just with the court, let alone your insurance.

    This is for Mom-

And the officer didn't just make up a random number. The reality is she got clicked at 71. Maybe she THOUGHT she was doing 67, but no way that officer decided to add a few mph just because.
