They pay accordingly. If you look at the damage some newbie drivers do and productivity while learning. The risk outweigh the reward in that scenario. Only lease purchase in some ways put that Truck before you and your family. I say Sni helped a lot of ppl including me . I met lifelong friends at Sni who still work there...

I'm not sure what you got fired for but I do hope that you eventually learn from your mistakes and get a better outlook. You can't expect people to side with you when you dont provide them the information needed to comprehend the situation. Not everyone is out to get you. Also, I wish you had stopped by the Schneider page at some point before you went off the deep end. There's some pretty smart guys over there that could have given you far better advise than whatever crap you were telling yourself. Best of luck to you Michael.pattyj, 91B20H8, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Someone says something that upsets you? Don't drive until you've calmed down and refocused. I plan on taking at least 15 minutes to myself every time I call my sister because I know she's going to piss me off.
The only power an employer has over competent employer is the power the employee gives them.
I can walk away from the truck when I get home tomorrow and have a job by Wednesday at the latest. If I chose to I could easily take 6 months off without cutting expenses an iota. I have this freedom because I try to be diligent in my work, be responsible in my conduct, and prepare for the future by educating myself and husbanding my resources.
You won't go into any kind of detail so we are left to our own experiences to full in the gap.
In the last month I've met a "driver" who didn't understand IFTA/permit book; two who - in broad daylight- turned down a frontage road that is clearly marked as not being the entrance to our OC; 3 drivers who turned into the POV lot in GB; one who dropped a relay overlength; one who didn't realize he had placards on one side of his trailer; one who insisted that all tandems must be at exactly 43 feet.
The GB OC averaged one accident a day in February. 7 loss of control due to weather, 14 slow maneuvering, and 7 unknown to me. 21 accidents that are by definition preventable and completely avoidable. Each of those 21 drivers must take accountability for their role in the crash. Were there other factors at play? Probably, but ultimately the driver is responsible. Try getting your DBL (or anyone in authority at SNI) to explicitly accept responsibility for telling you to run unsafe or illegal. It won't happen. You had stop work authority, you have physical control over the truck. Worst they can do is fire you, then you have grounds for unfair dismissal and a great reason for looking for a new job.
Again, if you want to share the details I will help you right any wrongs. If you prefer to do it by PM, go right ahead. -
Bwahahahaha. A DBL will say this load has to be there bla bla bla, do whatever you have to to get it done. My answer, I'm happy to do it, just send me a message on the Qualcomm. Their tune changes really quickly. You're the caption of your ship, Schneider preaches that over & over.
I still think there's something being left out of the story.

Edited. We can forget and move on. forgiveness and peace all around. What else is left to deal with here?
I still thanked your post because other parts of it is supportable.
Now.. I was going to go along with one particular point that I have been trained over and over by multipule companies in risk management, some were very good quality courses.
If something has happened to you, for example boss insulted you heavily to where you lost your temper and flew off the handle to tell him off while hopping around n your boots from your display of lost temper.
Do not get inside a 18 wheeler until you have regained everything inside your body, peace, heart rate, blood pressure etc. When everything is smoothed over and you have had the chance to decompress and fix the problem with the Boss so that this will never happen again to both yours and the Boss's satisfaction you will either be able to go home unemployed or you would have been rolling out on another load.
Don't run out into the big road with a 18 wheeler when you are feeling spiteful and vengeful.Last edited: Mar 11, 2017
Bo Hunt, Midnightrider909 and AM14 Thank this. -
From what I've been told you have to have a thick skin. If a company fires you for being safe.. well plenty of other companies around. Not worth getting into accidents for some DBL hounding you.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
