If a company is so paranoid about you posting your experiences for other drivers to read, I think I would be looking for another company. There is an entire thread filled with issues about the company I work for, (Rum's Rants.) There is no such thing as the perfect company.
As for the definition of trips- I tend to think of each seven day run as a single trip punctuated with a series of loads. Each seven day run I have been averaging 2600 to 3000 miles. On the 7/4-7/3 I average 21 days in the truck and 9 days at home each month. What I really like is that is nine "real" days at home.
I don't post anything I either wouldn't or haven't said directly to my dsr. I try not to be rude, but I don't mince words either. Roehl is a company I can live with until I get my own truck.
Attention all company drivers!!!

My best advice is to stay away from this industry. It is a cut throat industry and the cuttung starts at the bottom(Driver). You will be promised everything and anything, every 7 days you're entitled to 1 day at home but you must stay out a minimum of 14 days, doesnt matter if you're out 16,17,18 days you will only get 2 days home ..let me clarify..48 hours..and it means exactly that... 48 hours!! And no... they will not make an effort to get you home. The pay ..depends on experience so they say... Over at JB HUNT they tell you that.. but then they tell you they cant verify you're employment, they'll ask you to provide proof then when you do bring in W-2s and checkstubs but you're previous employer has moved or closed it still counts against you as Unverified employment there for you will be paid accordingly..( Lowest amount possible). Now of course all of this usally happens after you have already signed for you're health benefits, insurance and anything else they can get the instructors at the Southgate Terminal to sell you... Cd's that have info regarding lawyers to protect you..think Im kidding... I wish I could go to the hotel that they have you stay at in Norwalk for the Orientation in Southgate and I would tell all those new drivers coming in.. who rode a bus for 2 days from Washington, Oregon and Northern Cal.. PACK your bags... this company is gonna burn you. You will not get the "Average of 1800 Miles" a week as they tell you, if you dont have a load anywhere by Friday afternoon ..settle in, because there not gonna move you thru the weekend... JB HUNT driver managers and fleet managers out of Arkansas.. Straight A-HOLES... So once again, best advice, stay away from this industry, SWIFT, JB HUNT, C.R. ENGLAND,WERNER. Let me give you the inside scoop and this is to all my fellow truckers .... go Rail.. anything that is moving from the rails... good luck

I have never lost my last check from any company I worked for. -
2 companies? Better look at yourself, I could see maybe 1(although it has never happened to me anywhere at anytime), but 2? Sounds to me like the problem might be YOU, not the company!

Personal opinions about a company is protected under the Freedom of Speech Act.
Let them read..... The truth hurts -
Nope, 'fraid not. Freedom of speech under the 1st Amendment only applies to political speech. A company can make a rule against your speaking out of turn if they so desire.

We are dealing with two separate issues. The first is a constitutional right of free speech and an employers right to deal with its employees. I have done battle on both fronts and therefore have more first hand knowledge than the average person but far less than a constitutional lawyer.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Freedom of speech is very wide ranging. Religious groups have a right to evangelize door to door without government interference. The exception is private property that is posted "No Trespassing" or otherwise has the "Do not disturb" sign out. Religious groups also have a right to have Bible Clubs in the public schools. We have the right to pray, read our Bible or other sacred book in public. You have the right to express your opinions religious and other wise with fellow workers. You have the right to attempt to organize and unionize your workplace. You have a right to assemble for any peaceful purpose. The courts have even held that you have a right to go to the public library log onto their computer and view any pornography you choose. ( I am not expressing an opinion just a review of a recent Supreme Court decision.) I haven't even dealt with the free press and all the other issues covered by freedom of speech and expression.
Now as for the right of an employer. The first issue is that most workers are "At Will" employees. That means you can quit or be dismissed at any time with no reason given. In other words unless you have a contract you have no job security. As far as being held responsible for your posts, if what you post can be reasonably construed as being disloyal by your employer you can be dismissed with cause. Your recourse would be to file for unemployment and then work through the challenge process. I have had to do this and won. Your employer also has a right to project any image they choose to the public. With that in mind they can restrict what you say and do in relation to their customer or on the customers premises, (for instance your employer can say you cannot smoke on the customer's property, even in the truck.) So you have the right to hold any conversation with fellow drivers of your company, you should be cautious what you say to drivers of other companies and watch yourself carefully when talking to anyone working for the customer.
I could go more into depth, but then this post would turn into a book. Just remember with freedom comes responsibility. This is also a very large industry with a lot of companies looking for drivers. If you are miserable where you are at start looking for something better.sleeve62 Thanks this. -
Good for you Jl. I wish you the best in finding a local. Coming from an alcoholic family I think you made the best choice for YOU, and that's what matters. Don't worry, it'll come to ya.....

Who cares if usa truck reads this site what is posted about them.As long as it isn't false there is no reason to worry. All the drivers are doing is warning other drivers so the same thing does'nt happen to them.If the companies would do something about the drivers that have issues with them then they would'nt have bad reports about them from other drivers.Heck I posted to many bad things about Gainey out of Grand Rapids,Mi.There is more bad companies then good.Because the upper staff shows ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT TO THE DRIVERS.Then they wonder why the drivers have so much anger. So many companies does'nt pay the drivers for all trips.I had to sue Gainey to get my money back $1400.00.After they sent the money that was owed to me I dropped the charges. But after thinken about it I should have kept the law suit.If any of you are'nt getting your money, don't be afraid to sue the company. You'll get your money back because no company wants to go court and have the drivers tell the court all the other issues they have with the company.
