Trying to get my own authority Truck, financing, and insurance ready to come together Monday morning. DOT and MC updated.
I just read through the IRP requirements. D A M N !!! Thank god I spotted a requirement they didn't have last time I had authority 13 yrs ago. I'd be making payments on a truck I couldn't use.
New requirement. ESTABLISHED PLACE OF BUSINESS must be manned by a manager during regular business hours. WHAT !!!!! It specifically states I can't just have a receptionist or mechanic, person must be a manager !!!!!
ASKING: How do you get around that if you're a small 1 truck operation??????
Anybody have an answer?
My truck dealer, insurance guy, and finance guy are gonna be pissed Monday if I tell them everything stops now !

You are the owner/manager. Your home address is fine. When they do your first audit, they will come to your house. Or wherever your records are kept. Your fine. What state?
x1Heavy and IndianaF150 Thank this. -
That's the way it was but they changed it. You can't use your residence and the place must be manned everyday.
Texas, but it's a federal requirement!x1Heavy Thanks this. -
What address is the truck registered at...? If it's your home address just use that and give your cell phone # for all phone #s.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
There's no federal requirement like that. I just completed my first safety FMCSA safety audit. Have had my authority in place since January 1st 2016.
The auditor asked if I could meet her at a location 70 miles from my home office. Which I did. I am a 1 man operation with no one working for me whatsoever.Lepton1, double yellow, IndianaF150 and 1 other person Thank this. -
If it were federal, all states would be that way. But Illinois is not. They came to my house for my first audit, no problems.
However if they are adamant about it, put a small shed in the backyard for the office and call it suite A. LOL -
Do they always do a first year audit with every new truck company? And I'm guessing if you move you must update your new address online, right?
IndianaF150 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Yes and yes.
