Oh in most of the nation we can. my self defense firearms are loaded with them. But i wouldn't want to hunt with them. I'm not a hunter, just never got into it. But if i did, id use regular rounds. Hollow points splinter on impact. Who wants to dig all those splinters out?Bean Jr. Thanks this.

Not in some states you don't
I use HP most exclusively. Either Ranger T 230 grain or Federal Tactical Surplus 230 grain. There is a box of Buffalo Bores in 230 at 1350 super. Plus a few boxes of 255 at 1400 in super flat nose jacket for bear.
Ball is for plinking target paper. Mountains of white box. But only for target paper. I do keep a few boxes of ASYM Ball precision for competition in markmanship when it needs to be within about half a inch of a 10 ring at 15 yards. -
Huh? Where exactly are you getting your misinformation? Hollow points expand more, transfering as much of their energy to the target as quickly as possible. This does two things: creates a larger wound track and prevents over-penetration. Doesn't matter if your target is 2-legged or 4, it functions the same way.
Frangible ammunition is what is designed to break apart on impact. Hollow point generally stays in one piece.Joetro, Cottonmouth85 and rank Thank this. -
Just what i read. Our maybe thought i read and getting my ammo types confused.
Edit: perhaps it was "more likely to splinter/break" -
Who me? I understand what HP does and that is exactly why I use them. Mainly to stop inside the bad guy. Flat nose and solid ball will over penetrate risk.
All weapons are lethal even the so called less lethal. States regulate them. Police ASP batons are a example because there are 5 spots on a human you can kill with a Baton for example. -
Most, if not all, law enforcement use HP's because they neutralize the threat quicker and won't over penetrate, thus lessening the chance of collateral damage. One would think that the rocket whizzes in the garbage state would get that concept, but nope. How or why anyone would want to live there is beyond me, but I digress.....
Joetro Thanks this. -
No, the person I quoted.x1Heavy Thanks this.

My apologies. Ty Clausland, It's hard to describe being the same as law enforcement with their .45's Not too common where I am it's land of Glock here. mostly .40's that are pretty good.

I got hassled once while crossing into Vancouver area just because I'm from Texas. "Oh, we know how you guys from Texas are with your guns" is what I got told. So be sure to never try to carry it over that way you save yourself fines and jail time.
