Dude I can totally relate to the fact that you're lookin for info, but I wouldn't expect too much on here. That being said...here's your answers:
It starts right around now. It goes til it's done. (Not bein sarcastic, but it IS a pretty general question. Figure sometime mid summer, maybe more maybe less). The main areas (again, you're askin generalities) is wherever they're growing stuff, which is pretty much everywhere.
Sounds like you're tryin to start up as a broker. the usda puts out a report that pretty much lists the answers to all your questions. It troubles me that you can't use google proficiently enough to find that. Didn't take me too long to find it and I'm pretty dumb.Shock Therapy and Loose Leaf Thank this. -

Google is a powerful tool.
You will discover that to be in season for something specific like tomatos or strawberries etc. is mainly regional and that pretty much went out 50 plus years ago. You can store whatever you want in a cold enough facility until you can sell it at a good price. Or writing it off against your taxes as a loss if it spoils before you were able to sell and ship it.
The internet forums is a poor source of information you seek. You are basicially asking all other brokers to reveal certain information that helps them earn a living and compete with you directly. That's not going to happen.
Google is your friend. you will use it to quickly get a idea of what's common in reefer work. The one constant is that people never stop eating food. If it is a city of 10 million like NYC you need thousands of reefer trucks every night. Otherwise they run out in a day or two and then we will see a breakdown in society.TallJoe, Shock Therapy and scottlav46 Thank this. -

I'm expecting FL to start any day now.

What you think rate is going to be like this year
-
Better than last year. Other than that it's anybodies guess. Right now I'm seeing bulk carrots out of the Jacksonville region going to the Milwaukee area paying VVR's 3.70/cwt. Still pretty #### cheap.
On 44k of product it's actually 1.48 a mile into a very nice place for reefers. Definitely better than the usual off season rate but nowhere near the produce season rate.Last edited: Mar 21, 2017
