my grandpa used to call them suicide knobs also, supposedly in the 40's and 50's people would wreck if their shirt sleeve ended up getting caught in knob. And the wrist breaker part was true also, esp in the days before power steering.

I do back the correct way. It's correct for me. But my thumbs keep gettin torn to shreds

My truck may be on bags but it don't bounce.... so no.

There has to be something that'll protect your thumbs.Try Walmart and but thumbs bandaids or covering.Boattlebot Thanks this.

Get over that and right quick.
There's good reasons why I drive with my thumbs on top of the wheel. It's said that driving in slick conditions or deep muddy roads your weaknesses will quickly be exposed. Thumbs inside the wheel is a weakness. One blown steer tire, one set of wheels over the edge of a drop off or into thick snow, and you are a quick over correction away from either breaking your thumbs or losing control or both.
Good habits begin by doing the right thing. It feels uncomfortable at first. Stay with it until it is comfortable and always the way you do things.not4hire Thanks this.
