Is this a worthless thought?

    I am currently driving for a private carrier delivering custom garage doors starting from western WI and going eastern seaboard. Anywhere from Maine to Florida and back. Usually empty.

    I am wondering if it would be worth my time to get my own authority and lease the truck I am driving from the owner to pick up return loads from anywhere east heading to Midwest.

    Seems like a huge waste to run empty to WI from anywhere from Maine to Florida.

    Thought I could get my feet wet and make some extra money coming back with some freight. I know I would have to cut in the owner and get insurance and all that.

    Or are there "under cover" loads that I could sneak back and get paid?

    Any thoughts. ?

    The garage door company probably doesn't want their trailer delayed on the return trip. They need to get it loaded again ASAP.

    They usually wait 4-5 days to load it and I have taken many a slow trip back.

    I hope you have hauled ### back here and enjoyed it for a few days before going back 'on duty'.

    Spent some time in Bath Maine at the shipyard. Beautiful state, but I'm a wuss and can't deal with the winters.

    Food grade pneumatics and dedicated chemical tankers here and 100% of my loads are all one way. Its nice.
