Ok to start this off this isn't really a post for me, it's for my dad. He's 70 years old and is trucking away in his 379. It's a 98 and he refuses to get in anything else but he won't stop complaining about his shoulder hurting. The truck doesn't turn that hard but hard enough for him I guess. Now I have another 379 that turns with your pinky finger, it's almost wierd to drive cause the steering feels like it's not even hooked up, amazingly easy to steer. So my question is whether its the steering box or the pump that makes it so easy. It doesn't look any different from what I can tell and it's the same amount of revolutions to turn the wheels to full lock. Any ideas?

I am interested in the opinions on this. So yeah I would like to know how this comes about in any two trucks.

You can ck. the power/steering filter after you change it to see how much its clogged, then see how easy it will turn with a new filter put in?
-
Check tire pressure first.
Steering pressures could be low or something bypassing inside the box or pump.
Steering alignment. Caster and camber can affect steering effort. -
Picture and or brand and model of your steering boxes?

I will get that info and pictures, also it will turn by placing your pinky ontop the wheel while parked, I will check the filter but I don't think that's it.

Get rid of that old pos.

Do both steeraxles have the same weight on them?

My 08 389 started having issues with turning. I couldn't turn it without the truck moving and turning off the highway took some grunting.
Replaced the little power steering pump on the compressor and it's good as new!
