I've been chatting at a resurrected thread and Terry270 said he makes near $2000 a week with a dry box and home every day but one. I started hauling cars in 2002 in Amarillo, Tx at the rail yard for ATSI. I thought 2006 was a good year and I made $75,000 with a 1 yr old truck until they decided to become all O/O. I bowed out. I've done piggy backs and household goods for my church community in between and so my car hauling is spread thin. I've been at Moore since 4/4/2016 and my average take home is between $1,400 and $1,500 every week.
The highest I made one week was $1,900 take home; Probably the way the runs fell that pay period. Moore pays $1.01 per mile for over 330 miles. $1.35 for under 330 miles and all loads out of Lordstown pay $1.50 per mile. I also stay in nice hotels every night and my truck has just over 50,000 miles. I usually get home on Friday and leave out on Sunday morning. I mostly run from Toledo or Chicago to east PA and then I deadhead to Baltimore. For awhile I was running back and forth between Chicago and Delaware and as soon as Belvidere re opens I hope to do that again. I've been driving since 1980 and I've seen a lot of changes and heard a lot of getting rich stories from drivers. There always seems to be some driver that is making more than everyone else and has the perfect job. I also don't see where I would benefit from a union job these days because I'm 58 and I have a Roth IRA and mutual funds and so my retirement is secured.
So tell me; Am I getting screwed here at Moore Transport?
Am I getting screwed?

To me you have to ask yourself that. Is it working for you & your family. One man's happiness maybe another man's sadness. Are you financial able to take care your family, are you getting home regular? Is the job frustrating, do you enjoy what your doing? I believe the financial part is a piece of the pie but for me it's not the whole. You have to do what is best for you & your family. I hope all goes well for you
Banker and MooneyBravo Thank this. -
@MooneyBravo , I replied on the other thread, too. I think we all miscommunicated somewhere, because if you're taking home $1500/week and getting rooms every night, you're doing fine. I think we were under the impression that was your gross number.Ziggy319, KANSAS TRANSIT and Terry270 Thank this.

I would agree with ibcalm19 .....Some people can enjoy life and be happy , for others it's never enough and they can find reason any time . I don't have new equipment to start with , no benefits . I have old trucks but they are all up to date and maintained good . My guys leaving Monday morning and usually back on yard Thursday afternoon with Friday local work . We have most of the times 3-5 pick ups , on way back k even more . Unloading pretty much same . We move salvage one way ( iaai , copart ) , lease return , dealer cars back .Drivers do violate to come back home faster or load in time , I can't complain on that . They know the routine and I never pushed them . It's your choice .
Banker Thanks this. -
I replied on the other thread before I saw this one.
If you are saying that most weeks you are leaving out Sunday and getting back Friday then I think even $1500 bring home is low. Hell I believe Stan pays that to his 4 car drivers? -
If it sounds to good to be true it probably isn't
-
Yes, because you drive a red truck.

MooneyBravo, Banker, Hammer166 and 1 other person Thank this.
