Brookville, PA Flying J. I just dont get it. On my way back west from Long Island this morning, I got a preassignment. After I had passed where they wanted me to pick up. It was in my neck of the woods so getting turned around was easy. Problem was that it had a hard delivery appt. which I would have had to sit for an additional 7 hours after my 10 is up. Ok so, that turns into a relay here at the J. Good right? Not really. The load that I'll be taking out of here will have me sitting for 5 extra hours.

If i knew that, I would've just kept my mouth shut. At least the initial assignment was to an easy drop and hook. This one is going to one of my regular PITA customers in Elizabeth. Relay won't be here for another 5 hours so I'll have to set my alarm and go look for this guy. Stupid me for trying to be efficient. I'll learn one of these days to just blindly accept every assignment the way Schneider wants it. It must be alot less stressful. Green Bay has been slowly encroaching more and more into our operations and the effects have not gone unnoticed. I suppose that was the intention.

She really isn't all that bad. Provided that you don't need her help when you get into the inner cities where one missed turn could ruin your entire day. Funny how she never fails when your driving 500 miles on the same highway though.
There's a 20 mile stretch up near Findlay, OH where she thinks I'm in Canada. Not sure what to do other than laugh sometimes at this crap.

For pick up today, customer has requirements, like most paper roll places. Trailer must not have any holes in roof or damage or repaired damage and not be over ten years old. Trailer I had was too old so dropped that at and picked up Mt in Knoxville. It has repaired holes, screw it, rolling with it if I think I'm going to salvage on time delivery.

Get to pick up, sweep trailer, get told where to drop it. Nothing said about roof. Good with me.

Pick up loaded trailer. A 95. So much for ten years old. Repaired roof holes. So much for that.

Scale load. 35640 drives. Slide tandems all the way forward. 34240 drives, closer. Slide fifth wheel one notch. 34100 on drives. 12260 steer, 32860 tandems. Send macro. Thinking I can't roll, told 100 pound leeway so going to roll tomorrow.

Figuring 11 am delivery tomorrow. Going to be late message sent, no reply. What can go wrong?

I'm sure there is some higher grade pay and some logistical reason to this but I have noticed many loads ready for days, weeks even but only getting picked up when delivery is next day.

I would think it be better to pick them up and relay them half way to delivery so the final miles aren't a day or half day off driving. The longer delivery goes in a stretch, the greater the chance of it not making it on time.

Looks like an uneventful night at the ChezObetz Resort. Think I'll hit the shower then waddle in to the all-u-can eat buffet :biggrin_25523:

Whomever designed the freeways in both Houston and San Antonio, I hope died or will die in fire. If there was ever a freeway model of a cancer cell, these were it.

On a more positive note, I tooted in Stripes (yummy convenience store) and a bull hauler checked his boots, thinking it was him.

Bobtail at WalMart so I can get some things, only mts they had at WalMart were TA9# and I am not going with that mess if I can help it because my next pre assign say ten years or newer. Why don't they get rid of these crappy trailers when majority customers want ten or newer? I have four more days until home time and now they give me some decent runs yet they could not do it the whole five weeks I have been out here :biggrin_25510:

I could never handle more than three weeks in a truck. I had to get out of that truck after a few days.
