I did that once. I could hardly get them to work when it was cold. I added atf to thin it and it worked better. Anymore I keep a bottle of some kinda gear/hub oil and lube them often. If you cut the spout near the end it's easy to just apply a small amount, to keep the mess down.

They do get a little stiff in cold weather, but I do a lot of coast to coast so I still use it because it doesn't get washed off in the weather near as fast as other stuff I've tried.

I take it you have some seized hook pivots? I just use the good old WD and a negotiator.

WD-40 is al lI have ever used.

    Pressure washer when home.

Ratchet binders I've switched from WD-40 to CNC Lithium based spray lube. Seems to last longer.

Of the ones I've got on my truck from my company several are froze up. I've got to take some time today to break them free

    Snap binders or ratchet?

I've had some of my ratchets freeze up on me. What I did was bought a large tote from walmart and filled it with 2 gallons of diesel. There is room to soak 3 - 4 ratchets at a time. Leave them in over night. By morning they were as loose as a $2 hooker.

Have always used PBBlaster to clean and lube both snaps and ratchet binders. Also a spray on the winches to keep the lock pawl free.

I like PB Blaster too. I use a combination of CnC lubes and PB Blaster at home. I only use WD-40 out on the road because its cheap and always available at most truck stops.

Always a trade off as there's no lube I've found that you can spray on and forget. It's pretty much just like anything with moving parts: pm pm pm or regret regret regret.

I'd still rather have the ratchets than the snaps.
