I have a 3406E 6TS in a 1997 kenworth T800. It started last Friday I had a problem with my marker lights cutting in and out. I shut the truck down end of day and Found it to be a corroded fuse under the dash. Found a few others and pulled them. Cleaned the terminals in the fuse block and reinstalled the fuses. The truck then sat all weekend. Monday I put a new dimmer switch in the dash as well as new Jake switches out of a parts Truck I have. Went to start the truck and no start. Thought maybe it lost prime. Nope primer is hard. Replaced the cam sensor. Still no start. Replaced the engine side harness. Still nothing. It will fire on either but then dies off. No smoke during crank. Thanks in advance for any help.

I would be rechecking wires behind the dash, maybe you accidently unhooked a wire? I also would be rechecking the fuses or circuit breakers in the fuse box as you might of bumped one or it isn't making a good connection. Verify that all circuit breakers or fuses are good with a continuity tester.
What I have found out over the years is where these panels are located, they get moisture in them and the terminals rust up or get crud on them over time. Make sure you clean those up good as well.
Good luck -
It has to have power from the ignition switch to the ECM. I thank that is pin 70. The one I had that problem with had two other hot wires to the ECM, 54 & 56? It also requires some ground terminals. If you search 3406E no start and other related questions there is some info there. Search block top right.

Okay thanks for the advise. I have checked and rechecked the fuses multiple times. Still nothing. Pulled the dash apart again and found nothing out of the ordinary. I thought this was a 40 pin ecm.
-
Somewhere around the ecm there should be a couple of fuses, check inside the frame next to it, there the ecm power fuses, they are either by the ecm on the side of the motor or in the battery box
-
They are not in the actual fuse box inside the truck, they are external
-
They are inline fuses with covers on them, kinda look like an electrical cover with a cap on them
-
You stated that it cranked over & ran with ether. Did you check to see if it is getting fuel. From the sounds of it. It isn't getting any fuel to the injectors. I hope all goes well for you.
-
I will check for those fuses. Yes it has fuel. Filter is full and primer is hard. Thanks for the suggestions.
-
Of course its not getting fuel because the ecm isn't firing the injectors.
First things first, when you turn key on does the check and stop lights light up in the dash???Hammer166 Thanks this.
