I recall banded pipe of that type but smaller, 4 inchers or so.
Shippers like to band pipe using man portable bands and banding tool. CLICK banded.

Ive hauled flatbed dedicated for Lowes out of a hagerstown maryland railroad transloading yard of inbound lumber.
The worst fiddlydiddy bull loads are those involving a specific asian wood product in which it must NOT even sweat mountain dew in the morning or it's expensive ruined. I forget the type of wood name now but I do not forget that yelling from the rail boss to make sure that #### wood is covered.passingthru69 Thanks this. -
This ^^ i would do 2 on the first, 3 on the 2nd 2 on the 3rd ect.. then six on top. Spend time rechecking already tight straps as you will draw slack when you compress dunnage above. And if you have the option, i would winch 1st layer from drivers, 2nd from pass, 3rd from drivers ect.. then split the top six from both sides...

Are you talking about Teak Wood
-
I would throw one strap over each layer rather than two every two or three layers.
Unless they have it bundled then probably two straps over each bundle.
Six over the top if it's 40 foot pipe, unless you know for certain that it isn't 40.00000001 feet.Chewy352 Thanks this. -
That and that 40' pipe better be lined up exactly even which I've never seen.crb, Chewy352 and 4mer trucker Thank this.

Have a cold six pack to use when you are done throwing all those straps.
I like reading all the tips and suggestions but I will never remember them when I need them.skellr Thanks this. -
Simplest way to figure it out is take the first number and add 2. For example, 37ft....take the 3 and add 2=5 straps. 40 ft...take the 4 and add 2=6 straps. 57ft....5+2=7straps.Highway Sailor, soloflyr, Lostkeys and 3 others Thank this.

Yep, Plus like I said with 40 foot pipe you're never going to get the ends are even.
-
That's what I didn't think of. Plus the .00001 inch.
