I have some air leaking from the two bolts on the end of the governor. I tried tightening them up to no avail. Is the governor bad? Doesn't look like there's seals behind the two bolts but instead lock washers with teeth. I also tried looking up the parts diagram but CAT doesn't seem to list the governor for some reason.

The price of a Governor is inexpensive enough that replacing it is a No-Brainer.

The gasket is between the governor and compressor head. It's not a cat part. Search for d2 governor gasket.

I bought this at a Napa store, it's got everything you need in there, new governor, gasket, and plugs. I would just replace the one you got that is leaking. Like someone said they are very inexpensive. Before you take the old one apart just remember where all the lines and plugs go so you can match up to new one. Good luck

I looked at the diagram for the governor and noticed the bolts where I'm seeing the leak from are actually going through the whole until to the other side just for mounting purposes. Why would it be leaking there? Seems like an unlikely place to leak to me.

Could be a hairline crack between the air side of the governor and the bolt hole. Could also be that the gasket between the governor and the compressor has failed and the easiest spot for the air to push out is through the bolt holes.

Keep the old one it's most likely good. Just the gasket leaking.
