Is he getting things done? If so, what's the problem? 500 miles a day on the east side of Mississippi river is not that bad. As someone mentioned above, 14 hours and parking availability, it all has to be factored in. If he is always late for no reason other than wasting time watching TV and overeating at truck stops, then it is a different story.

Look. I will take 650-700 mile loads - but it literally takes 12 hours to do 700 miles on a good day - with an E-Log, that ain't gonna be legal unless there is no traffic.

And even then, 2 hours unload, 2 hours load, 1 hour in between, you want him to do a 17-18 hour day?

I will do those loads on occasion if they pay well - but I know going in that if I take a load with those miles, it's going to be a long, long day, and 5 hours of sleep. I have paper logs, and I have to tear my log pages out and start over just to make it look legal on those kinds of runs. I mean sure, those loads can be done legal, but don't plan on getting to the customer at 7am. More like 1-2pm.

If your driver is on paper logs, don't expect him to run illegal. If he does, he does, and it's on him to make it legal - but YOU'RE the one choosing the work for him and expecting him to have to do those kinds of days. NOT EVERYONE HAS IT IN THEM TO WORK 14-18 HOURS A DAY!

Instead, why don't you find 500 mile runs that pay what the 700 mile runs pay??? Or are you too stupid to do that? If you're losing money on the truck, that's your own #### fault. 650-700 mile runs every day is stupid unless you're getting crazy money for it. Not only will any driver get burned out, but you're putting a lot of wear and tear on your trucks doing that.

I can't wait until your company has to go E-Logs. What are you going to do then? Fire every driver because they can't make these appointment times? Run your business smarter and then you won't have these problems.

On E-logs, 682 minimum a day, more if I'm going around a backup. 5 or 6 days a week. 30 min break is spent getting fuel and drop/hook. Truck is a new piece of sh1t penske cascadia daycab pulling dedicated auto parts in a
53ft box. I've done it for 8 months now and I'm burnt the fawk out. I see the same sh1t every day. I see the same azzholes every day. I drive the same jacked up road every day. I stop at the same truck stop every day. Yeah, I'm home every day but I get no rest.

I just want to know where your driver is running? 75 mph doesn't matter,if you cant let the truck eat.
I got weak kneed, and giggly dreaming about a 75 mph truck!!
I do 560m every night line haul through Atlanta, and Tennessee traffic.
My truck is neutered and I wish I drove a real truck.
"Id like to fly..but my wings have been torn out.."
Alice n Chains lyrics.Always reminds me of driving a truck :)
