Trucking would vastly improve if only 4 companies went out of business tomorrow: Schneider, Swift, JB Hunt, and C.R. England. Schneider is one of the worst outfits one can get a job with. They're rude, they treat drivers like servants, they treat drivers like they can't leave and go to better options, and they offer low pay and low miles. You'll be babysitting trucks a lot if you work for Schneider. But you know what? The same can be said of these other three stink pot outfits.
All military service people avoid Schneider

amen.......speaking as someone who spent a few years of my younger life in the Army, I can say that I'm tired of it. Just because you served in the military does not make you special or heroic, it makes you a veteran, simple as that. Personally, I don't need any awards, parades, or pats on the back and I rarely tell anyone I'm a veteran (because, why would I??).
Those who did, did. And those who didn't, didn't. No big deal either way. Let's move on.........Crusader66, Friday, homeskillet and 1 other person Thank this. -
Like opus, I am also a veteran but rarely acknowledge it, I did it because I wanted to, could care less about discounts and usually fake thank yous. I also don't count simple service on American soil veteran status, if you never deployed, you're not a vet in my book. My trainer never left American soil but paraded himself as some kind of super vet, annoyed me to no end. I have had a terrific start to a career in this business.
Crusader66, 91B20H8 and Opus Thank this. -
I see this ALL the time.
Please, please NAME one of these mythical small carriers that we noobs are hearing about. In a thread I started this morning looking for a company that offers the Veteran Apprenticeship program, someone mentioned Schneider. No offense to that gentleman but luckily I knew enough to avoid them like the plague.Crusader66 Thanks this. -
Because mega's have an incentive to hire us veterans and afaik, they get some something out of it via the "hiring our heroes" program. So they target us, and they lie to us with lies that specifically concern us. The Veterans Apprenticeship program offers an additional $1,035 per month of income up to like two years I think. I've seen several company recruiting websites that say #### like, "We're looking for veterans blah blah blah there are plenty of opportunities for promotion etc".
There is an entirely separate marketing campaign - a specific flavor of snake oil - directed at veterans. That's likely why the OP worded his post like that.
Really man? I can't speak for all veterans, but personally - I don't give a #### what you do or don't remember. What in the actual ####, dude. -
^^^ Your post sums it up for me.
All the pro military hiring adds are for the governments pay outs, and that's all!!
Its not just trucking, but just about any job can get that money for hiring vets.
They should be honest and just say it! If Schneider really loves vets, than give the
veteran drivers they hire the money uncle same pays out to the company.
Its a patriotic scamCrusader66 and rward75 Thank this. -

Well, basically the idea is this.
I'm sure you've seen the outfits with neverending advertising, right?
Well, there's usually a reason for that. It's often indicative of a turnover problem which means people don't want to stay there long. Where one needs to look are the places NOT advertising.rward75 Thanks this. -
I personally feel different.I was most appreciative of the men and women who supplied all the necessary things needed during my time in the military during Vietnam .Their support was a necessary thing during those times.Today the military is all volunteer,no forced enlistment(i.e.draft)so i do appreciate any man or woman that chooses to serve our country.TequilaSunrise, Maxgussam, Crusader66 and 1 other person Thank this.

I was military police in the Navy and yet I was never stationed on a ship. Thankfully in order to meet your ####tarded definition of a veteran I was stationed at "overseas shore duty billet."Luke628 Thanks this.
