chain the axles and let the suspension work.

 

I cant chain both axles on both sweepers. I can chain rear axle on the rear sweeper and front axle on the front to sweeper

 

Are you using snap or ratchet binders?

Snap binders to take up as much as you can. Hook ratchet binder on either side of the snap binder and tighten. Remove snap binder and repeat on next chain.

 

I only have ratchet binders I let about 40 psi out each tire and opened the axles that seems to have worked

 

Are you also saying that a snap binder will tighten a chain more than a ratchet binder? You won't get a 'back and forth' disagreement from me. It is a learning question.

 

He's saying to use the snap as a temporary thing to remove as much slack as possible before putting the ratchet on. After putting the snap on and pulling it somewhat tight hook the ratchet on the outside of either end of the snap and then remove the snap. This way you are using the ratchet on a chain that is already fairly tight allowing you to pull it tighter without running out of threads. You could compress the suspension much more this way.

A ratchet will for sure get a chain tighter than a snap could. The snap in this situation is being used to pre tension the chain before pulling it really tight with the ratchet.

If you can't grab it by the axles below the suspension you need to remove as much travel from the suspension as possible. The more you can preload it with the chains the more it will take to make it go further.

I just happen to have one binder thats seized up so I don't think buying one snap would be a bad idea
