Never mind that the hole he was backing into was the width of 2 trailers or more, to begin with.
But....I will have me a home made mirror like that one, by next week![]()

Now that I'm home, and my internet is faster, I was actually able to watch the video... that's a pretty good idea.
I've got a big flat mirror like that one that clips on the visor. I'll have to give it a try.
I like the part where he sets the brake and then looks out the passenger window... lol, I just leave the truck rolling and steer from the passenger side. -
Good video! Yea, he had PLENTY of room between the other trailers. I remember having to do that MANY times and there was VERY little room between trailers and no one to help. What a pain! I remember a couple of times, by the time I was done, I was pouring sweat. There ARE times you have no choice, but IF I did, I would NEVER blindside. Thanks for the video!

I actually could have used this thing 2 weeks ago...at one of our new customers.
It was my first time there. And they had me chasing my tail, for instructions that always seemed to result in my having to report to one door (3 times actually) then another door around the block. So, I was left with no choice but to blindside into a hole to turn around, walk around this HUGE building multiple times, OR back the truck for over 400 yards and around the corner.
An hour later...I was finally allowed to hit the dock...of said blindside hole. Instead of the 200 plus others that did not require blindsiding.
It was a big place.... -
I have seen company employees actually do that on purpose...then, they get altogether, take a break, smoke a cig, drink a beverage and watch the trucker blindside and have a few giggles....
-
And all you really want to do...is kick their ### when you're done
-
I rarely have to back blindside - and even when I do, a flatbed trailer and a day cab tractor with a window behind me to see everything is kinda like cheating, lol.

CHEATER! lol

I as well had that happen to me.. Place had at least 50 60 open doors and they sent me around the backside corner where the only way was to blindside in... Kind of hard to explain but there was just enough room behind the building for 1 truck to go down and then there was a fence that ran along there as well.. It was a pain because the fence didn't allow you to get the correct angle to back.. Took many many little adjustments in order to get it in but We got'r done...

Almost sound like the Steak n Shake place in Bloomington, IL. Lots of open doors, but the one they needed my reefer in was in a corner, against a fence, with enough room for a 48' trailer....I had a 53'....had to get just the right angle on it. They had a dock plate, so you didn't have to be dead on perfect, but it took awhile!
I actually saw one of those mirrors at a TA not long ago and wondered if it would be worth a hoot. Really good idea.
