What is the purpose of these two switches and how I should use them in driving?
My truck is 7500 4*4 manual transmission (Eaton)

If I have to guess, Your Front drive axle is probably a Interlock. If it is in, that means your rear axle is slaved to the front axle (Drives only) so that both drive axles offer power equally.
The Xfer high and low baffles me, If I start talking everyone will know I am dumb about this. So I am curious as well.Shock Therapy Thanks this. -
My guess would be that the switch on the left is to engage the 4 wheel drive and the switch on the right is high and low range for the 4 wheel drive.
OLDSKOOLERnWV, rabbiporkchop, not4hire and 3 others Thank this. -
That should not be necessary. Your transmission already determines the range the power is transmitted to the drives. The only possibility would be shifting axles and to me that will be frightening to consider.Shock Therapy Thanks this.

I would go with the high and low range thought for that right hand switch and front axle on/off for the left hand switch.
Shock Therapy and x1Heavy Thank this. -
What do you mean?

That the poster Shock Therapy is exactly right in my opinion.OLDSKOOLERnWV, not4hire, Shock Therapy and 1 other person Thank this.

@Shock Therapy is correct.
You should be able to engage the [Front Axle] switch while moving, as long as there is no wheel spin and you are not turning.
Do not switch the [Xfer...] switch while moving and make sure the clutch is fully depressed so the clutch brake is engaged (or the engine is shut off) because if there is any power transmitted to the transfer case it will spin up in neutral.
If you want to disengage the transfer case completely (eg. for towing) put the [Xfer...] switch in the [Neutral] position. Again though, be careful when switching out of neutral and make sure the clutch brake is engaged or the engine is shut off. You can really wreck the gears in the transfer case if there is any rotation coming from the transmission while switching.Last edited: Apr 8, 2017
treeman10687, rabbiporkchop and Shock Therapy Thank this. -
If it's 4x4, I'm going to guess switch on the left activates 4x4, and hi, neutral, low would be the rate the transfer case is geared, similar to a 4x4 pick up, you can select hi or low
x1Heavy and Shock Therapy Thank this. -
Thanks for these valuable information. Also I need to know for front axle switch on that means I am driving in 4WD?
And for normal driving Xfer should in High and front axle is on?rabbiporkchop, Shock Therapy and x1Heavy Thank this.
