    I had this in storage, it was hooked up to the factory system, that system no longer works.

    tried this until I removed it. the radio kept falling out of its cubby hole. I think I can solve that issue.

    It has little to do with the radio as long as it acts as it should. To preform optimally you will need to mount an antenna with a good ground and decent coax. Then tune the antenna to the lowest possible swr.

    I wouldn't eat with that on my lap.
    I wouldn't use it there because it might be considered distracted driving.
    Don't take pictures with a phone in your mouth.
    Radiation from RF might cause testicular cancer.
