PS: In all seriousness, they are a good outfit. Just had to poke a bit of fun. Pretty much all the megas are this way now. Almost unavoidable unless owner op & under own authority.

I drive for a sister company (Jim Palmer) which is also owned by Wil-Trans. JPT was my first choice coming out of CDL school and I have not been disappointed. Excellent equipment (I drive a 2016 Pete 579 which had 188K miles on it when I got it). Another post listed some of the features of company trucks and it is pretty much on the mark. I don't have a fridge yet but I plan to get one installed soon. Will also have EPIC VUE satellite TV put in my truck in the near future. Nice thing about working work either company (W-T or JPT) is you get access to PRIME'S huge freight base, access to their facilities/terminals (am sitting in the PRIME Pittston PA yard now having just enjoyed an inexpensive hot cooked to order breakfast in their canteen getting ready to go pickup a load approx 4 miles away) yet work for a company where you are not a number amongst thousands of other drivers. Feel free to msg me if you have additional questions.Oldironfan, tscottme and Just passing by Thank this.

Also forgot to add 100% no touch freight as the company / customer pays for lumpers.cowboy502 Thanks this.

That's what appealed to me, in addition to Western miles. Big company freight, small company atmosphere. The 2 things I wish were different, not a reefer company, and wish they had better insurance.

Yes their health insurance is on the pricey side. I am fortunate that I fall under the TRICARE military health care system.

You can't beat Tricare. Good for you. How many hours would you guess you waste each week at slow customers? Or do you find the customer delays cut into your miles? I've only ever pulled dry van.

I've got 3 days at Jim Palmer under my belt and so far I'm absolutely loving it. I've never driven a truck before, never driven a manual and yesterday after getting my permit in the morning I was driving on local roads and the interstate. Everyone is incredibly friendly and the instructors don't feel Ike instructors. They feel like friends teaching you how to drive and it's very effective. Can't wait to get more drive time in tomorrow with the trailer.
I would HIGHLY recommend this company and I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone (that has actual EXPERIENCE with JP) that DOESN'T recommend JP. Of course there's plenty of people out there willing to talk about how bad companies are but have never had any contact with them.tscottme Thanks this.
