I already climb from the sleeper to the front seat and check that my phone is ready to play with, you want me to reach up and check the radio as well?
I had a guy pass me today. (After my radio was working again). Clearly he had gotten distracted while securing his rebar load. Fully half his straps were barely hand tightened, looks like he got distracted and never finished the job.
He would have seen it in his mirrors if he had looked as well.
No response on the radio. Oh well. Hope he caught it before he killed someone.
Doesn't anyone answer their radio any more?

"How long does a proper pretrip take???
Depends if there's a line at the coffee counter."Soltaker Thanks this. -
I picked up one of our new drivers last week who had had to go home without his truck. He had had at least 4 jobs previously with two of them being with training companies. He had been with two trainers with our company.
When I picked up a different trailer on the way to the yard I went to check the brakes and he asked me to show him how to do that.
No wonder they have to have brake safety week. Half the people out here don't even know how to check them let alone adjust them if needed. -
These days if its not on an app its not useful. Cbs are ancient technology. If todays drivers wanna socialize they do it online. To get todays drivers attention on the road you just have to point frantically at wherever the problem is. Why on earth would someone want a cb anyway? Way back when people had the decency to take the convo to another channel.

Good point here. Also take into consideration most trucks cant run a decent CB antenna without smacking into things or compromising the signal. Not to mention some trucks, such as Cascadias, lack the ground plane required for a CB antenna to work. Plus technology on CB has been slow to evolve when compared to other types of two way radios.

I dont think I have used a CB this century. I used to turn it on back in the 90s when the weather was bad but that was about it. Too stupid most of the time for me to listen to it.

I have mine turned low. Just enough for the dirty side to be a mutter in the distance.
Don't worry when something go wrong a hollar will go through the radio. HOLY &^%$ or something...
I still have my old wonderful Uniden. -
Watch how many radios fire up when the drivers roll up on a wall of brake lights. Although for the last 10 miles drivers headed the opposite direction, have announced repeatedly the problem and what lane is rolling!
MachoCyclone and SingingWolf Thank this. -
Most open deck guy's run with the radio on. I know I do. Saved my butt when some dunnage slipped and you could not see it or the loose straps on the mirrors. Hit the off ramp and fixed it, then rolled into an open scale 3 miles later.
