Looking to startup again. I have 18 months experience OTR but nobody will touch me because I haven't driven in over a year.
What is the easiest path back to solo driver? Heaven forbid I have to drive with a trainer for too long.
Been out of trucking for 14 months

Try small companies in your area.Fourteen months is along time and companies require a refresher course or recent exp .
Cottonmouth85 Thanks this. -
I'll play devils advocate here and say take a 1099 job and keep your nose clean for a few months.
You'll be back in the game. -
You still in Tucson?
First, ignore what the websites have about "recent experience" because trucking companies are bending their own hiring rules these days, so apply anyway.

Cottonmouth85 and Big Don Thank this. -
You are about 2 months past insurance requirements which will make things hard. Small companies are a good bet but still hard. A 1099 job is a horrible suggestion while maybe the best option you have. Good luck.

I'm still in Tucson, so options are limited.Chinatown Thanks this.

Haven't Been On The Road in the Last 3 Years? No Problem.
Sometimes they stretch it to "Haven't been on the road in 5 years? "
Make a personal visit to KMC Eagle since they're near you.Big Don Thanks this. -
I was out four years and swift took me in with only 4 days with a trainer to make sure I was ok to drive safely. Stayed 6 months and moved on to Knight and then kept moving up.

Abilene will hire you. The training time isn't fixed so if you can show a trainer you know what you are doing you will be cut loose asap. I would figure on at least a week though.
I hadn't driven a semi in 20yrs and was only in training for just shy of a month. -
May has a PHX terminal and they would probably pick you up without a problem. Might have to out with a Mentor for week unless you run the test course to safety's satisfaction. Not the best pay, but not the worst either.
