Hi everyone, Just like the title says, Im interested in a Truck, so im going thru the proccess paperwork and I pulled a Rig Dig Report and there is an accident on file.
How can I find out how bad the truck wrecked if at all, or a fender bender etc. the dealer ship says they dont know anything about it being in a crash.should ask them to lower the price or should just back out of the deal? Any Help would be GREATLY appreciated before I pull the trigger on this thing.

Find out how bad. But either way truck has a diminished value. When you go to resale it will still have a diminished vale compared to market rate. Car dealers hate carfax because of this too. A lot of people are stating to sue for this lost vale after a car accident now if the vehicle was not totaled. If it was minor and fixed properly I'm sure it's fine but compared to the exact same truck or car it is worth less.

"The dealership says they dont know anything about it being in a crash".....walk away!
Lepton1, ramblingman, Ruthless and 4 others Thank this. -
Absolutely.... i am sure the dealership did their own background check before they took the truck.

Why do you want to go through the added expense in getting the frame checked and all of that, there are enough clean trucks in the world to choose from.
By the way, I would rather deal with a truck and mechanical issues any day compared to a truck that needs body work and frame work.Lepton1, ramblingman and crb Thank this. -
Lol, somebody there knows......but I'm with Eddie and the rest here, bail out. Just like cars, a history was run on the unit both internally and externally by this dealer. He already knew what you now know.
Rule of thumb is a Carfax or Rigdig report is created from insurance files for a paid claim and most carriers wont claim under 10 grand on their own stuff. It's cheaper to eat it overall. How's the ownership history?
Good luckSoCal Trucker Thanks this. -
See what I'm saying above? Diminished value. Even if it was minor or was properly repaired.
I may buy a truck that was crashed but not anywhere near market value.catwrench55 Thanks this. -
Yeup spoke with the sales guy, and after a back forth email then a phone call He told me that the driver side swiped a 4 wheeler when he made an "unsafe lane change" they had to replace the driver side fuel tank, strap step, and brackets, tore the Crap out of the 4 wheeler However....Driver was cited for :
1.Out of hours
2.Improper lane change
3.Other driver violations( IDK doesnt state why)
4. Log book violations
so thats how it got reported to FMCSA. Sounds like the driver was running rouge Despite minor damage to the truck the driver still had violations and thats how it all went down. And if i didnt run a Rig Dig report i wouldve never known.
Truck has a clean title and is now going thru the NTP inspection proccess for the "ultima" warranty program for the life of the loan. So if all is well we will be good to go on Monday morning. Im satisfied at this point with the purchse price and terms. I will keep you guys posted on the outcome. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for ALL your input!Last edited: Apr 14, 2017
