Well, here in Texas, I've seen worse. There's tanker outfits here that offer 19% fuel surcharge..

You misunderstand how it works. A term like 19% fsc is not saying they only pay 19% of the fsc they charge. They are saying they charge 19% fsc on top of the line haul rate. Its common when dealing with product that is billed by weight.

What does "new owner operator" mean? Does that mean you have obtained your own authority?

Any time the company is the middle man...always ask for a jar of vaseline..before signing the papers.

    This is so true.
So many operators get caught up in 80 , 70 or 65%
I always say it's still about the rate not just the %
Would you want as an example?
    80% of 1.00
    65% of 2.00
    70% of 2.50

I choose 75% of 2.75 to 3.50 average rate. Plus 100% fsc, layover, detention, tarp, etc etc. While not an all inclusive list i would suggest(in no particular order) any potential owner operator to look into landstar, bennett, daily, admiral merchant, and mercer. Most on here know I'm with mercer, but all of them are very good companies to do business with.
