Hello everyone, long story short, one of my drivers got into a wreck. This was a brand new truck. The sheriff wrote him up for a handful of violations after such as inoperative brakes, inoperative headlight, missing bumper, inoperative turn signal and others. This is all stuff that was clearly caused by the truck hitting the concrete median. Is it normal to receive all these violations in the BASIC report. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes the trooper gave the violations to the trucker, which also show up under the company.

I have seen a lot of what the OP describes.

I don't know the reasoning or legalities of it, but often the violations are listed on the CSA web sight as "result of accident."

The inspection was done to the vehicle as it is, because they can't go back in time to inspect it as it was.

kind of like getting a ticket for a flat after a blowout. Kick 'em when they're down!

That blows. Seems like an abuse of power if you ask me.

2 sides to every story,.. I can only assume the driver really pissed off the officer for what ever reason. Doesnt make it right,.. but it is what it is.

    Shame.

Guy I used to work with was on a scale. They gave him the green light to proceed, and as soon as he started to roll, a trailer tire exploded. Light went red, and he got inspected & written up for the blown tire. Never even gave him the chance to have it fixed before inspecting him and they witnessed it blow.

That's cops for you, and one of the reasons I try hard to keep my interactions with them to a minimum.
