Has anybody with current Freightliner experience had an opportunity to see/experience the new 2018 due out this summer? Supposed to be some really nice changes but not sure exactly what sort of changes.
I was asked if I wanted one in June when they hit our fleet.

I've seen a couple on the road. Kind of curious about them myself.
bzinger Thanks this. -

5700'S came out a few years ago..dont see many going down the road...lots of similiarities.

I'll have to go in and talk to my boss and see how he spec'd them. I imagine that has to do a lot with the driver experience that can be expected.

The dinette option looks mighty attractive to someone like me.
Also, they have cooling system that can run the a/c for 10 hours and heater for 34. Looks like they want to find a compromise somewhere between APU and idling.
On thing I wonder is how many "safety" features they'll have, which some experienced drivers may find annoying.austinmike, bzinger and fargonaz Thank this. -
I see high quality head phones making a comeback...to relieve tension from the safety nazi's.

They are completely redesigned on the interior. The one we got has the full aero package (low bumper, FlowBelow kit). It also has the new Freightliner collision avoidance system (not On Guard). There are many things that the driver can access and change from the dash, such as speed over set cruise before jakes kick on. On board/dash diagnostic system.
The exterior from the doors back is the same (except mirrors).
The truck is getting around 8.4 MPG brand new, which means it'll probably increase as it breaks in. The driver in it is very fuel conscious so that reflects in its performance.
It doesn't have the office/dinette configuration but the double bunk. In that configuration, there is more storage than the previous Cascsdias...lots more. The refrigerator is much larger too. The interior lights are BRIGHT.
From what my buddy tells me, it's a much smoother ride than his previous Cascsdia.DoneYourWay, LloydToo, Suspect Zero and 2 others Thank this. -
I hate the instrument panel. I like the led interior lighting. I like the look, and I've no doubt it squeezes fuel, but that instrument panel.............egad.

Lately, I'm getting a massive hard on for trucks with these dinettes. To me, it would just feel more civilized for eating and doing work on my laptop...
Also, I need to be comfortable when pawning trolls on the internetz.
