You either have your own authority or you lease to Landstar. If you plan to have your own MC and get loads from Landstar brokerage that is easy to do, but they offer only cheap freight lately. All the good stuff gets booked by trucks leased to them
truckfam Thanks this. -
Or to proven guys on their speed dial list
noluck, truckfam, blairandgretchen and 2 others Thank this. -
Thank you for your response, i was told you can be leased onto Landstar under their authority and keep your personal authority and use it to book loads when the Landstar board is dry?

Somebody told you wrong.BigTennOTR, truckfam and Ruthless Thank this.

LOL!!! Thanks for clearing that up. I retire in a few months from my current employer trucking has been a lifelong dream O/O is my objective after some experience from the starter comps. At Landstar Step Deck seems the trailer of choice, could one do o.k in the Van division. My plans is to have my own Dry Van and a truck note under 1400 a month. My modest pension will cover my home experiences, so 5000 a week isn't my mission, but 1800-2300 after operating cost would be nice. Your thoughts please? Thanks a ton for your time..

We shelved our authority in 2009. You can either lease, or keep your authority. You can't do both.

Yes you can, sort of, just become an 3PL carrier for LS.
