Do you only have one year of experience as a company driver? If so, I'd stay on the company side and keep the money in investments. Too much to lose as an O/O if you hardly have any experience under your belt.
What is my best move with large start-up capital?

You are not being misunderstood. Those other things you have, are they paid for?
You asked for advice and you got it. What are you gonna have 5, 10, 15, 20 years down the road when you are burned out? Retirement is no joke, with the right investing it can be turned into millions.Cottonmouth85, dca and Chinatown Thank this. -
Sit on it for a year then decide.
Cottonmouth85 and dca Thank this. -
Buy 1999 and older trucks and sit on them. Watch them increase in value after December.
jamesinmt92 and Dwardell662 Thank this. -
James,
I'll sell you my trucking company including 1 truck, 1 trailer , authority, all of my customers, and a 2 weeks training for under 200k. You'd still have money to by a rental property, establish a maintenance account, and buy a happy meal. Whatdaya say?whoopNride and gokiddogo Thank this. -
2 maybe 3 fixer uppers with a little left to sink into renovation / cosmetics.
I've got one fixer upper, 250k would do it up nicely. -
The Chinese lady I deal with on that propertyvegas website has a friend that's an older retired Chinese man and he can do anything around a house and works cheap because he enjoys it. Tile, hardwood floors, plumbing, anything.
Anything that need done, she just calls him and he's right there and just as happy as he can be.dca Thanks this. -
A guy I know, his father-in-law got $250k about 20 years ago from a lottery. He bought two trucks and hired two drivers. After five years he had no money, no drivers and two worn out trucks.
whoopNride, jamesinmt92, haycarter and 4 others Thank this. -
You could go new, I had a 2013 Western Star with a DD15. It was a good running machine. Now have a 2016 Cascadia with a DD16, the end of March it was it the shop for four days for an emissions ECU.
Anytime I have had a paid for truck, I found that I got lazy about my work ethic, so you would have to watch out for that. Be dedicated about setting aside money for maintenance and replacement of the truck later on. -
Send me a check and I'll do a good job investing that money in my trucking company. I promise.
It's burning a hole in your pocket anyway. Might as well have it do some good because it's about to be gone forever anyway.
On a serious note do not ever partner up in business with a family member or friend especially to drive a truck.
There are battleships, container ships, cruise ships, and partnerships. Guess which one ALWAYS sinks?
You might do this with your wife if she's a driver. Although divorce might result. Which may or may not be a good thing?
Good luck..cnsper, Cottonmouth85, Ezrider_48501 and 3 others Thank this.
