If a company requires 2 years otr for employment, how do they know if your current company is otr or local? obviously, major ltl carriers and local companies would give it away, but I'm talking about lesser known companies, like centerlineline which has a position where they fly you to locations and you work locally.
does it give it away on the dac report or driver verification?

There's any number of ways to verify that:
Company website
Calling the company directly as part of employment verification
Company Facebook pages
Or safety check ( http://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/query.as...apshot&query_param=USDOT&query_string=2158470 )Newdriver2015 Thanks this. -
Log Books since they are required by Federal Regulations..

sorry..by "they" I meant the recruiters looking to hire you. How do the recruiters know whether your company is local or otr? if it's on the driver verification form then I can see them finding out but otherwise I don't see them hounding a company. I just don't know what's on a driver verification form.

I get what you are trying to pull. Dont lie. If its local its local. If its otr its otr. They will verify that you have 2 years, trust me they will. Be honest.MachoCyclone, Gunner75 and Newdriver2015 Thank this.

I realize it matters today, but if you think about it it really shouldn't, as a good class 8 semi driver should be able to function effectively with long haul, short haul, 1 drop, multi-drops, auto, 9, 10, 13 18 speed, whatever the assignment....

Calling a company to verify your employment and asking them if it was OTR is not
“hounding” them.
It is standard practice and the FMCSA actually requires the new company to do so for all employers over at least the last 3 years as part of their drivers file.Newdriver2015 Thanks this. -
I appreciate the responses. I will stay otr then until 2 years is up. lol

Perhaps they will work with u if ur honest. Just tell the recruiter yes I've been driver over 2 years but x amount of time was local. Unless it's a really big outfit a smaller company might say that's fine. Even a bigger company. Hell Chinatown is constantly telling people to ignore experience requirements on websites and apply anyway!

I applied to a company last Fall. On their form they wanted me to list all the states I had driven in the last two years and a rough estimate of miles driven. They also wanted to know the kinds of trucks I have driven and trailers or loads I have pulled. That was a flatbed and heavy haul outfit.
Newdriver2015 Thanks this.
