Because after December only trucks 1999 and older will be allowed to run paper logs.

    I'll throw this out there....

I knew ever since I could pronounce Peterbilt I wanted to be an O/O. If I had that kind of cash you be hard pressed to talk me out of it and I'd do it.

That being said, you stated you're only 1 year into your career. You've received alot of valuable advice from people that have walked down the same path before you. I'm not saying don't do it. I'm saying don't do anything without thinking it through 100%.

If you don't spend it, you'll still have it, and it's alot cheaper to make mistakes on someone else's dime.

I heard about a truck stop for sale for the tune of 5 million, it sits on roughly 8 acres with 30 acres of creosote bushes behind it.

OP, my advice to you is to take your time and research trucks, engines, transmission combos and differential ratios. You need to spec the truck for the type of running that you will be doing. There is no such thing as one size fits all when it comes to trucking.
Do lots of reading on these forums and others and learn about how this industry works. While you're company driving, pay close attention to what things cost. Fuel, tires, shop rates etc.
II would recommend leasing to a GOOD company and learn trucking from the OO side before you attempt to go independent. Only about 1 in 10 makes make it through the new entrants program for new authority holders. Follow your dreams but use your head and you should be fine.

Trucking driving is a job. You don't have to spend a dime to do it. Just like that Kevin Rutherfraud's scam. That poor couple that spent over 200k for a Rutherfraud super truck , they could have had all that money in there pocket and had the same exact truck driver job but oh no have to have my own truck and it has to be a super business person truck. Sad all of the poverty I see in this blood sucker industry.

I think we are understanding you perfectly well. You are a truck driver with 250k cash which means soon you will be a truck driver who just lost 250k and will have very little to show for it.
