I don't know why you can't, I've done it several times on steps and flats, I do it on my lowboy everyday. As far as this guy as soon as I saw the tennis shoes and shorts I wrote him off.OLDSKOOLERnWV, Logan76, Lepton1 and 14 others Thank this.

Don't know why I thought you couldnt. i didn't see that you cant do it in the green book. Good thing to know i can in case I ever need to do it.

The new Manacs that we have have a sticker saying "Do not hook to frame flange, main beam seperation may result". Seems unlikely, but whatever.
Logan76, cke and johndeere4020 Thank this. -

We have a dc that regularly hooks to the frame on mixed pipe loads

I mean admittedly the frames aren't that heavy duty like a lowboy but within reason you should be fine buts it's definitely not illegal.Logan76 Thanks this.

don't you want to sell your van and get a flat or step trailer ?

Flatbeds don't have as many crossmembers either. Maybe they think pulling on the bottom of a deeper frame rail you may get more torque?
I don't think I would take securement advice from anyone at Western Express...motocross25, passingthru69, Logan76 and 8 others Thank this.
