I am claiming 1 on my taxes and it says I will owe at the end of the year. HELP!!!

    Weird. I am putting these numbers in h&r block calculator and it says i owe $1800, but if i go to efile.com and put in these same numbers, it says I get back $850.

    I use turbo tax deluxe but the 850 seems about right you shouldn't owe if your claiming one.

    You mean save all food receipts from being on the road? Is it better to do this or just claim the standard per-diem rate of fifty something a day or whatever it is?

    Was specific to the OP's scenario... If you are only gone a few nights a year standard deduction is normally better than trying to itemize.
