For a rookie which would be better in the long run?

Schneider. I've worked at both and Schneider was hands down better.

I make great money at Swift. Teamed with a guy for a month who was on Schneider's tanker division for 6 years. He made more in a year solo pulling Van at Swift last year. By like 20k. This isn't a guy who tells trucker stories, either.

I'm also averaging about 1500 weekly. Dollars, not miles.

Schneider. You might... might make a little more at swift if you're one of the lucky few. But the other quality of life improvements are pretty significant.

Compare fueling at schneider and swift for example. That's almost a daily thing. So, way less bs to deal with there. Almost every day.

No camera or a camera facing forward WITHOUT audio. That's glued to windshield

No one calls you. Seriously, they don't. It's usually the reverse problem of bothersome dispatch.

Plus, if you go bulk, you have a whole range of better opportunities in a year. I wish I had. But even van is still pretty #### legit. I'm a year in, after all the raises make 44cpm and average 1300-1500 a week before taxes.

In 2013 as I was getting back into trucking I considered four different companies to go with to get two years experience. Schneider just about ran me off their yard in Fontana, CA. "How did you get in here!!!???" By comparison Swift invited me upstairs to talk directly with dispatchers and recruiters, talk to drivers, and walk the yard to review their equipment.

I have heard good things about Schneider. However I ran with Swift for two years to get experience to move on to my current gig.

They give you a fuel route you have to follow. Your fuel card is only good for X gallons at X fuel stop.

BUT I often chose not to fuel at their given locations, bypassing a fuel stop and then requesting to "reoptimize" my fuel route after bypassing a fuel stop. By "REOPT FUEL" on the Qualcomm the driver manager will ask the computer program to seek the next best fuel stop. Sometimes that would return with a fuel stop behind me. Then I would wait a while and reoptimize again until I got a fuel stop that made sense.

    RedRover and AM14 Thank this.

    That sounds pretty annoying.
