Is this info something the government has shared, or ?

Govt and insurance institute. I didn't make it up. The only reason it's more known now is the proliferation of media and media availability.
OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
Wasn't doubting you, just curious. We all have different experiences in life, I find it harder to avoid accidents today than 20 yrs ago. But that's just me.

I'm with you, no doubt. More cars on the road, more people in the country, cities are growing and they all need stuff. We drag the stuff. Fact is that percentage wise, trucks are having less accidents than 1975. I've said it before and will say it again, we used to be death traps, dangerous, unsafe, tired, drugged up. We got cracked down on, learned how to behave and are much better off for it, so are the general driving public.

We all did california turn arounds that kept us up for 72 hrs back in the early 70's. That and the fact there was no air ride and the bumps and humps would not only keep you awake but rattle your kidneys. Todays world is different. Internet, Sat Radio, Cable Tv so we hear about it more and the other facts as stated more trucks and cars on the road. You were top Knotch if you drove a Diamond Rio and as stated again if it had damage it was fixed and not looking like some of these heaps out there now. I had a Kenworth VIT Aerodyne back then which actually was one of the first stand up sleeper COE's. I was part of that left lane gang Hammer down from Chi Town to Shakey Town and Back. Use to get Bonus Money paid if we got the load there ahead of time. The trucks i say our safer today but some of us old hands think todays drivers are worse than ever before. Truck school mills are just making steering wheel holders. I learned the old way and grand fathered into my cdl today you can buy a cdl for what 3 or 4 grand. I dont begrudge anyone who wants to be a driver just give them the Real training for the real scenarios out there not 4 weeks of summer training then stick em out in the winter over cabbage or Elk... JMO Ya'll be safe out there..
Toothpick1, Al. Roper, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this. -
