I'm still pretty new at this, but I'm learning every day and I wanted to impart some wisdom to people newer than me or those who have been driving long enough that their grandkids have more miles than me and maybe they have forgotten.
Perspective: I could have a real job where I work for a living. Instead, I get to drive around all day and honk a really loud horn for kids who pump their arm. I am entirely overpaid for this and I work for a universally revered "bottom feeder", which means I make a fraction of what my peers make. And I'm still overpaid.
The only time I've actually worked since I got my cdl was when I mistakenly accepted a driver load/unload of 45,000lb of tractor trailer tires for Bridgestone. One day in 6 months. I've sat and played video games for longer than 11 hours before. When you love what you're doing, time flies.
Not one thing about this lifestyle makes me want to go back to working in a factory or warehouse. Not my DM, not 4 wheelers, not elogs, not shippers or receivers, not other drivers, not my paycheck, not DOT. Not even driving in California.
Your time in this career and lifestyle will be marked by days, both good and bad, maybe even terrible... but your worst day out here is still better than the best day the guy unloading your trailer has.
Perspective.
