18918b. Starred a few weeks ago and getting more frequent. When I flip to the high range sometimes it grinds something terrible. Are my syncros shot or could the range valve just be sticking or slow? Only does it low to high never had issue high to low. Sitting still in neutral I can hear it move fine everytime. Tell me it's not the syncros

Remove the air filter front the back of the transmission and replace it as a whole assembly or just the filter inside if you can buy only the filter. I also occasionally add silicone spray to aid in lubricating the moving parts that shift the transmission. The slave valve on the side of the transmission needs to work properly to get the air to shift the transmission. If you spray in some silicone it needs to be after the filter so he filter doesn't trap it and prevent it from reaching the slave valve.

Hate to say it but its your syncro ring in back side of trans. It will get worse and worse. I would take it to a good trans shop have them go through the back end of the trans.

    And shift a little slower.

Try that as a way of buying time.

Yeah it seems if I shift at lower rpm it is less likely to happen. Is the syncro ring in the back half of the tranny? Can it be repaired without dropping the whole trans out? (Which I just had hanging to replace clutch )

    Thanks men

    Yes.
    Its in the back half.
A good trans shop can drop that and repair the syncro.

    lester Thanks this.

Are you flipping to high range you're still in gear or while in you're in neutral?
