A recent notice under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act by GSM Transport at 7301 U.S. 301 in the Battleboro community, which is an affiliate of Celadon Trucking Service, states the Indiana-based trucking company will be closing down the local facility. Dennis Elschide, corporate attorney for Celadon, said in a written statement the company will cease operations on June 30 at the facility.

Joe Weigel, director of communications at Celadon Group, said from his understanding, the local facility provided logistics and warehousing services for a client in the area.

“Our contract with this client hasn’t been renewed and they have selected a new company to provide these services starting July 1,” Weigel said.

The notice shows 127 employees being affected by the shutdown of the local facility. The job losses include 64 warehouse associates, 18 local drivers, 13 operations coordinators, 12 warehouse administration employees, 10 warehouse team leads, four warehouse managers, one site manager, one information technology manager, one finance or human resources specialist, one health safety environment manager, one continuous improvement manager and one business manager.

    I was wondering about this.

I'll have to look at other companies as a "move to" choice .

Best wishes and good luck to all Celedon people
