Reminds me of a toothless chick I was talking to at Loves in West Virginia once....she was very proud of the fact that she drove team with her boyfriend....and had no CDL at all.

ONE of the trucks I reported last year,,he passed me on curve running oncoming traffic into shoulder..The truck driver had no license, it was a team. They had switched drivers to one with license when police nabbed them but since I could identify the driver they found themselves in a world of crap for lying to cop. He kept them for 3 hours and likely financed the cops wages for the next month or so. I think only half the dibby dibs are licensed.

I once had an employer taking child support payments out of my check and not sending the money to the state ...they went broke and when I applied for a new job found out my dl was suspended.

The paperwork problem I can understand but the rest of it I cannot, especially the number of drivers who "have no CDL".. Here's an idea, if the FMSCA was doing its' job, the carriers these "no CDL" drivers were working for would be stripped of their operating authority.

I'd love to see how many people drive cars without licenses and kill people. Where's that article?
bzinger and HalpinUout Thank this. -

It was a chronic problem in Illinois 10-20 years back. Then the Feds launched Operation Safe Road.

I had to go to court in East Aurora, NY (just south of Buffalo) for a misdemeanor log book violation back in 2010ish (whole other story there btw.) I ended up sitting there the whole night as for some reason my case was the last one to get called. Actually, ended up being 2nd to last, but close enough. Anyway, about 50% of the traffic cases has some form of no/suspended license violation attached to them, either as the sole charge or in conjunction with speeding or some other violation. I remember paying attention after the first few as ALL of them (meaning all the no/suspended license tickets) were pleaded down to parking tickets. Most of the moving violations were dismissed or pleaded down. What really pissed me off was the judge said if I wanted to plead down, because it was a CMV enforcement violation, I had to come back a 2nd time to talk to someone else (some special ADA) and plead it down, then do it a 3rd time for enter my plea to the new charge. Ain't got the time or money for that when the cab fee was $100 one way and the ticket itself was only like $250 plus like $150 court fees.
Then you hear about all the extreme speeding tickets that get pleaded down... no wonder that state has issues.
Edit: This article should keep you up at night when driving around NYS.Friday Thanks this. -
I have 2 friends (non comm drivers) that said F the system years ago. They have had a harder way to go that those of us who do it correctly. IF IF they get pulled over it is hell....towed, courts, impound, do it all over next time.
