Warranties are only as long as the company survives..... Seven years is a million miles in a lot of operations; there simply isn't a way they have a sound projection of how well their new technology will hold up in SEVEN years of daily use. If anything significant doesn't hold up, that warranty will take the company down.

You guys you are talking about how long it will last , on a vehicle that has not even been made in to a single running unit yet. The first one has not been made yet. So no testing.

    Zeviander Thanks this.

Edison, Ford, the Wright brothers, personal computers, cell phones, television.......

All of the naysayers were wrong about those too.

That would be a very valid argument. If electric cars haven't already existed for 100 years. All those things you mentioned had noticeable growth spurts. By growth I don't mean sales or popularity (though they had that to)- by growth I mean quality of the product.

Electric cars have been around a long time. And they suck just as bad now as they originally did.

But like I said before, time will tell. Though you could argue that that's already happened with electric cars, you never know. I wouldn't give up on it. But I for darn sure wouldn't invest in it either.

You do realize that it's hydrogen fueled right? And this has nothing to do with Musk, if that's the "he" you're referring to. As I said above, there is almost no infrastructure for it. 35 stations to be exact: Alternative Fuels Data Center: Hydrogen Fueling Station Locations

Stations are just the end use of the chain. Supply and logistics will need to be developed. There's a lot of work being done on that aspect of it right now. Nikola is saying they'll invest in their own network of stations so we'll see.

If you really go look into your link, you'll see that in the compare section they have some rather ridiculous numbers listed on the diesel side. Diesels apparently only have a 500-750 mile range and weight 19,000 - 23,000 lbs. The heaviest truck I own is 17,700 fully fueled, lighter than the 18,000-21,000 boasted by Nikola. Obviously there are heavier trucks out there, but the average truck out here will easily compare to their weight numbers.

The cost section is probably the most ridiculous part of the compare section. Diesels have a 500,000 mile longevity and cost $10,000 a month in fuel? According to them the diesel is getting 7.5 mpg so apparently we're all doing 30,000 miles a month using current fuel prices.

Hydrogen will be the fuel of the future. Electric does well now due to infrastructure not being necessarily required. Battery capacity is always going to be an issue. I'm all for it, there just has to be some realistic expectations on the timeline of it all.
