I've spent most of my over 30 + yrs at smaller companies, run like that.
when there is no after hrs dispatch , I tell them ," guess I'll deal with it and let you know what I did in the morning".
usually there is a break down number for a 3rd party.
it all depends on what the situation is.pagan22 Thanks this. -
I'd be surprised if there isn't someone you can get a hold of beyond bankers hours if it's a 'good sized company'. Now that it's day time make some calls and find out.
As for the shipper, well, you're able to post on here. I've found contact numbers online more than once when the one I had was no good. It's always worth a try. Two locations, google earth. If one's an office and one's a warehouse it will be obvious.
Learn to plan ahead. You were given the information during hours that dispatch was available I would guess. Try and verify phone numbers and addresses as soon as you can instead of waiting until late at night. I know that may not be possible if the info comes over a satellite system while you're driving down the road 2 minutes before the dispatcher leaves for the weekend but don't wait until the the last minute and use all the tools you can.TripleSix Thanks this. -
This is the song that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends!!!
Dispatchers are from Mars and. Drivers are from heven, well at least some of them!!!
This is normal practice at about 78% of companies. I've left a VM about an important issue and got ccalled back 3 days later!!! -
You can post on a forum, so you can look up a phone number or an address.
Learn how to do this on your own, don't depend on others to do it for you, you are in the field doing a job that they can't do so do it well and you can be better for it.
ALSO name the company.Gunner75 Thanks this. -
Always call ahead for ship/rec hours and to verify address.

Well that's actually the whole point of my post. I called the shipper and no one answers and it says they close at 2 pm. I'm getting there at 3 for a load latest time is 5 pm. There was no possible way to reach anyone and the address was not on google maps but was on safari which showed 2 different places. I did my due diligence as much as someone with no experience in looking for shippers.tinytim Thanks this.

A number of times when I first started driving I would get the contact info and sit on it, thinking I had plenty of time to call. Then when I did, my contact would be out of the place and I would be out of luck. Make your calls to confirm and get directions asap. You will save yourself a lot of trouble.tinytim Thanks this.

I'm confused. You couldn't find out at 11 pm but with the times mentioned I don't see what the problem is. Deal with it in the morning in this case.
