I bought this air compressor used and when it arrived there was oil coming out of the air out hole. Wondering if it was normal and occured during shipping because of careless UPS...before I attempt to install it.

The lucky 8 ball says indications are not good. I suppose it could have had some oil left in it and the compressor was upside down. Then the oil worked its way through the piston rings and came out the air outlet.
Unless I knew it's history I would go for a reman. Ask this question to your supplier. That is a lot of work to save a dollar and have to do it twice. It's your quarter.

If it was improperly handled during shipping an oil did come out of the air out hole will it still be okay? Im doing the install myself to move an old truck from a farm field so not looking to spend too much on this.

How do you know your compressor is the problem? If you open or take out your air tank drains are they full of oil?

I have to go but in short if your air tanks are not full of oil, caused by bad rings, your compressor is probably better than the one you bought. Do you have an air leak, bad governor or an unloder problem?

That can be many things. I learned from a man that connected a air tank, with a gauge, directly to the compressor. That takes every possibility away from the truck system except possibiy the governor. If you make sure there is no air pressure on the truck anywhere that eleminates the governor. Compressors like yours have an unloader kit in the top of the compressor. I consider that a no brainer but if you would not put balljoints in your car do like earth mover said or take it to a mechanic. Spray all your hoses down with soapy water.
