I need to take the test for class A Tn. CDL license ASAP (have a good opportunity that has popped up for me). Anyway, the Tn. CDL study manual is really long, I was wondering if any of the practice tests are actually sufficient to study from. I'm not looking for an easy out here, it's just that I have 3 PT jobs right now and we have 4 young children so hrs. and hrs. of reading the manual doesn't fit into an already packed schedule. Any help is appreciated.

I passed all my tests in va from doing practice tests online only. Do them until you get all the questions right all the time.
However, every test had questions I missed. So, ymmv.
If you've got plenty of common sense and do all the practice tests, you'll be fineridingfree48 Thanks this. -
Only need to study general knowledge, air brakes, and combination. The rest is for additional endorsements but it won't hurt to skim through it atleast.

The hardest part of getting a cdl in any state is passing the pre-trip inspection. The DMV doesn't care if you ace every written test and will still flunk you on the pre-trip inspection for silly reasons such as calling a gauge a indicator or visa versa. They won't even give you the road test until you pass the pre-trip inspection. YouTube has videos of pre-trip inspections.
For the written tests, Google : Free CDL Practice Tests Tennessee
If you're working 3 PT jobs, you probably qualify for free cdl school paid for by the state through the WIOA Program. -
I'm glad you brought that up. I didn't see anything about a road test in the manual but it did say to skip studying the air brake section if not driving vehicles with air brakes. I will only be driving trucks like Ford F-350-550. What do they give you a road test in??

Whatever vehicle you bring . Dmv wont supply vehicles. Also... if vehicle you test in is an automatic, cdl will be restricted to autos only. If it doesnt gave airbrakes.... restricted too

I'm not familiar with the hotshot segment of trucking. I'm just guessing you'll test in the type truck you plan to drive. Talk to someone at the DMV; try to go in person if you can and ask.

What if you don't own a vehicle like the one you're going to drive?

Rent one
