Most every prostar I've driven I can see daylight through the door seals. Seems like it would be pretty easy to stick a shovel handle or 2x4 through there and hit the button.
Dont ever pay for a lock smith if you own a prostar

If I'm being honest, all the tools I need to break in this truck if I lock myself out are in the chain box. Way I figure it, it'll take some time for someone to actually pry the door and try to push up the button, if I'm around I'll see it happening. Not worth hiding a key, if someone actually finds that, it's seconds for them to be in the sleeper with me vs several minutes for me to select the weapon I'm going to go beat them with. I do carry spares. A lot of them. But none are hidden outside

i have locked myself out twice, from team driving i got in the habit of keeping a key in the ignition (which i recently stopped doing running solo) and wearing a key around my neck which i still do because it works for me, it only comes off for showers and goes back on as soon as possible and i never get locked
many drivers have suggested i zip tie a spare to the oil dip stick or some more hidden, creative place on the truck, if someone found the key and stole my truck would my insurance cover it or blame me for providing access? i think they would blame me even if i hid the key in a clever place, i could ask but i don't want to arouse the beast and it's so important to me to never have to report my truck missing that i am inclined not to hide a key, keyless entry with my fingerprint or retina scan or voice command? combo locks on the doors? obnoxious alarm system?
i have seen on more than one occasion a person with a ring of keys walking through a truck stop parking lot checking doors
i have been so lucky and feel the need to stop depending on others. at one company where i worked all drivers drove same truck model and all our keys were identical and the day i locked myself out i found another company driver who happened to be at the same truck stop at that time
at another company where i worked there were only four truck keys that fit all the trucks in our company and at that truck stop i found a fellow driver who had driven several company trucks and collected all four keysx1Heavy Thanks this. -
Just ask anyone in the parking lot who has a prostar, i don't know how many key paterns there is out there but almost 100% sure someone will be able to unlock your truck.

Does Paccar have a patent on a fool proof door lock? Why aren't they all like that? Seriously, it's been at least 30 years since Paccar figured this out

I've heard the same key works for every model truck thing before but it hasn't worked in my experience. Even locksmiths have come out and thought that too so maybe I'm just lucky/unlucky that way or maybe I didn't jiggle it enough but that's a whole nuther thread right there, lol!

I always have a key hidden on the outside of the truck. Back in 04, just west of Flagstaff, snowing and cold, I hopped out to pee wearing a t-shirt,shorts, and flip flops (I've matured since then) and locked myself out. I had to break the little side vent window to get in. Always had a second key ever since unless the truck is one of those where you can only lock the driver's door with a key

I carry 2 keys, 2 different key rings, one in each pocket.
