Depends on how pressure is applied. Hook a strap and pull straight up or in, they are pretty strong. On the other hand I saw a guy try to straighten one where a forklift had hit it, and he broke the welds where the spools attached to the rub rail on both sides. Didn't even seem to be that much pressure.
What's up with all the strap hooks secured to the rub rail ?

Expecialy since the welds on every reitnouer I've seen look like a 3rd grader did it. Put these winches on the opposite side and you will love it.
DDlighttruck and skellr Thank this. -
how many winches per side do you runLast edited: May 23, 2017

I have a peice of flat bar on both sides of my trailers except for the Fontain Revolution. Their is no place to put a flat bar on it so we hook to the rails except with wide loads. Then we use the chain pull-ups (4x4 dunnage necessary) for chains or use a wench on each side if using straps. I just take older straps that may have damage on the hook end and cut the hooks off.
DDlighttruck Thanks this. -
With a reitnouer the rail would be stronger than anything you can find under there to hook to( not much).
Also hooking it to the frame could cause issues when the trailer flexes, could cause your straps to get lose.
Also the megas are getting trailer skirts now so the only place to hook is the rail. -
Hell that's a late model. I got a 71 dovetail at the farm i use a couple times a year. If it wasn't so heavy id use it every day to run freight.DDlighttruck Thanks this.

I bet that was a good solid trailer.

Skirts on the flatbeds? I don't think I've ever seen that outside of the conestoga or other fixed tarp systems.Al. Roper Thanks this.
