No you're right available payment means the more miles you run the more you pay which means more money out of the settlement so he's absolutely wrong

No, what I meant was, A driver who drove 2500 miles a week will bring home less money than the driver who drive 3000. It's simply a matter of revenue.
-
As an avid reader in their sub-forum thread, I thought I was correct, but I have been wrong before.Lonesome Thanks this.

You can also make more money by going to college, earning a masters degree, and getting an actual job....so what's your point? JCT, nor anyone who has ever driven for JCT will ever tell you it's the highest paying driving position out there. Yes, you can make more money as a company driver...I've made more money as a company driver...but again, if you have a goal to own a truck and learn how to run your own business, JCT offers one of many different ways to accomplish that goal. And as far as a high mileage truck at lease end, please explain the difference between a L/P and purchasing through a finance company. If you finance through a bank, are you not driving the truck? At the end of your payoff period, does the truck also not have high mileage? That's a rhetorical question by the way...
I'm happy for you that you think that leasing a truck leads to a lifetime of failure, shame, and mockery. I would argue however, that the lease purchase program at JCT is one way to become a successful business owner. If you get a warm and fuzzy by criticizing an avenue to success for some drivers, well..more power to you.jeff18, U.S. Otriad, Highway_Executive and 8 others Thank this. -
That's not what you said, though.
-
But. Let's use the numbers.
.90 x 2500 miles = $2250 - .23 mile variable lease ($575) = $1675
.90 x 3500 miles = $3150 - .23 mile variable lease ($805) = $2345drvrtech77 and Steel Tiger Thank this. -
You guys are missing the point. The more miles you drive the more the variable payment is. The point I was making is you don't bring in more money driving 2500 versus the driver who drove 3000.
-
There you go! The more revenue you make the more money you make even if the variable payment is higher.

Less than 2 hours ago, you said JCT didn't take out more out of your settlement because you run more. Now, you are saying JCT does take out more if you run more miles. I'm so confused.
Are you sure you have been with JCT a year? You should know this by now and not mince your words.
Even when the math was posted for all to see, JCT clearly takes out more for your truck payment as your miles increase. -
Not correct. It is possible to bring home more money on less miles. I do it every almost every week. I don't run hard in the least. I'm probably one of, if not the laziest drivers we have.
There are drivers working hard to run 3200 miles in a week to bring home 1k. It can be done with 2400-2800 miles.
I have mentored probably 100 or more drivers in all my years here (i know that number is correct as i just got a new phone went thru the process of cleaning up my contacts this past week). As I explain how that happens, drivers are shocked that you don't have to run hard to make more. The biggest problem drivers have is controlling their largest expense..... fuel, both in purchase and consumption.
Most drivers are getting (consistently) around 7.3 -7.5 MPG. Whereas that is decent economy, its not great by any means. The average driver spends waaaay to much on fuel in terms of price.
Now, if you're goal is to pay off truck, then i don't advocate running short miles as it would take longer to do.
If you have no desire to pay off the truck and are content to just "use " the truck to generate revenue, then don't kill yourself as your income to work ratio drop. I personally like to smell the roses across the country and try not to work too hard.
Honestly, I'm not getting any younger and health issues and stamina are not what they were 10 years ago. I can casually move across the country, not stress, drive longer than I'd like to, etc.
JCT will not get 700+ miles in a day out of me even tho i can run more miles than almost all drivers here because i can drive faster than most as I'm grandfathered in on the max speed. 600 miles is a good day for me, unless the load is tight, but even then, i will not drive faster to make up someone else's miscalculations on time & distance.
Too many solo drivers think they have to hammer down for 11 hours. Son, you ain't no company driver. JCT doesn't tell me what i have to do, where i have to go, where to buy my fuel, nor how to run my business. Granted, they don't do any of those things, but i won't sacrifice a penny's profit for anyone except at my choosing.
So, to recap, yes, JCT is a good company. Yes, they have wonderful office/ support staff. Yes, they offer a fair program. Yes, you can make money here. Yes, you can take at least 7-10 days/ month off and still be profitable. Yes, it takes more than 2 minutes to plan your trips to maximize the money you keep from a .90 base.
No, they don't pay the best. No, you will not save thousands of dollars a month here. No, it's not always easy. No, they aren't the only option out there.
But to each his own.jeff18, Jarhed1964, Ssand Man and 4 others Thank this.
