There is no doubt you got a point. Problem is going to end up he more than likely "knows" someone either at the state level or maybe even on a federal level depending on how big of a farm he has.
One of the locals I am friends with has one truck. Its an older truck but in really good shape. Every now and again he will haul general freight for somebody local. He doesn't push it to the extent your talking.

He may be politically connected... Be careful as he already knows you're an "enemy" to his crooked lifestyle....
I feel for you believe me.... I can't stand crooks like that !! -
While I don't know all of the particulars I do know there isn't US DOT numbers being shown and Kansas in their infinite wisdom loosened the regulations even more on "farm trucks" pertaining to mechanical worthiness. I can tell you as tech that it should scare you to know what's running down the road next to you overloaded, brake issues, suspension components worn, steering components loose....and some cowboy behind the wheel running balls to the wall. All I can figure is the farm lobbyists must have some kind of power to get things like that approved based on the safety record of the industry.

That I can agree with. Arkansas is much the same way. If you have a farm plate you get certain exemptions on an inspection. I don't know exactly what they are, but I have seen a slick tired pos turned loose after being weighed with no inspection. I'm not saying it's right only that you can wear your self out worrying about your neighbor. I find it best to concentrate my worry on my operationRuthless, bzinger, DDlighttruck and 4 others Thank this.

It goes on in Ohio every day. Im in the same situation. They have no operating authority. That makes it illegal. I just sit back and wait for something to happen.
bzinger, bulldawg trucker, tony97905 and 1 other person Thank this. -
It goes on everywhere I did it for awhile alot of people have it's not actually that big of a deal. Certainly not worth wasting breathe and time whining about it.
wore out Thanks this. -
Farmers in MN do not get any break from inspections.
What's with the hate of farmers? It's tough to eat without them. -
No hate necessarily for farmers but the politicians that pander to the industry. When Ted Turner (TBS) is near the top for farm subsidies there is something askew with the system.bzinger Thanks this.
-
You know why farmers have the exemptions? Because they vote, and they are home to keep track of what their politicians are doing.
Generally speaking, the same cannot be said for truck drivers either way, therefore we don't get the exemptions.jamespmack, rank, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this. -
You dont need authority to haul exempt commodities.
