AWG doesn't have any trucks. They contract out their transportation division to trucking companies. They say right up front, "We're a grocery company, not a trucking company." Any loads brought to their warehouse by their dedicated carrier are either dropped on the yard or dropped in a dock door and the drivers goes on his way.If Black Horse is there now, then they have an office inside the warehouse, but are a seperate company that only does transportation. I know how it works; I drove as a company driver with YRC Logistics and Greatwide dedicated for AWG.
I was a little confused at first about the milk company, but now it's starting to come into focus.
90% of the drivers were home every day, but I wasn't because I like long haul trucking. I just did brokered loads outbound and then returned with backhauls for the AWG warehouse.
anyone heard of Associated Wholesale Grocers before?
