I've heard a lot about these fabled jobs choosing loads from the load board, but the loadboards I have been looking at all have freight that pays less or the same or just barely more than a lease op at Swift would be paid for the same load. If I ever decide to move on, it's definitely going to be to a company where I have the freedom/responsibility to be selective of my freight and lanes, but most of them haven't honestly been enticing enough to take the risk of leaving a company I'm pretty happy with tbh.

Alot if not most of those high dollar lds very seldom hit a ld board. Calls are made to proven contractors then to proven outside carriers. If none of the above are available, then it will hit the boards. No matter the company and their ld boards

And that is a post worth listening to!!
If you don't understand what he is telling you then run the load boards and you will.

Because I make as much money as a person can make at my company within one year. I've bought out the contract for my student loan. I got bank financing for a truck and my contract states that I can carry freight for an outside carrier or from a load board, under their insurance and authority... but there are too many hoops to jump through and it takes a long while to get approval to do so. Good loads get snapped up in seconds, not the week or more it takes to get approval for such an instance.

I make a lot of money for my level of experience, but I am basically topped out at this company. I have 4 months left until my year is completed and I am free to take my truck with me. It's not a walk away lease though. It's bank financing. The payments are still due if I'm in orientation for another company etc.

The only way I could be making more money is on a dedicated account as a trainer. I don't want to train.
